Please Note - these instructions provide an overview of our announcement for this feature. For detailed step-by-step instructions on compliance with CMS-1500 form requirements, we encourage you to explore the updated sections in this article. As always, do not hesitate to reach out for additional support!

Elation Billing will now support up to 12 Diagnosis Codes per Claim, even with only one charge line! This is an important feature as more and more value-based and quality programs require more reporting on patient conditions. More updates and a new video to follow, but please check out this video below for a quick intro to get up to speed πŸ˜ƒ To use this feature effectively, start by analyzing the patient's Visit Note for all relevant diagnosis codes. Then, prioritize the 12 most relevant codes to include on the claim and update the superbill diagnosis codes in Elation Billing accordingly. This step ensures compliance with CMS requirements and minimizes the risk of claim rejections or delays.

We are expecting to launch additional updates for color coding and other cool tools. Look out for an in-app announcement as soon as those are ready, and an update to this article. Additionally, changes made to the superbill for billing purposes will not affect the patient's medical record in the EHR system. This distinction helps maintain the separation between clinical and billing data, ensuring that comprehensive patient diagnosis history remains intact.

***Warning: Please do not include MORE than 12 diagnosis codes per claim, or they will not all be transmitted due to the CMS 1500 limit. To ensure compliance with CMS guidelines and efficient claims processing, regularly review the diagnosis codes on each claim and confirm alignment with the CMS-1500 form requirements. Coordinate with your billing team to prioritize and optimize claims for accuracy.
